What’s new, July 2022
Another month ticks by and, for the most part, changes have all been under the hood. A lot of code optimisation, minor tweaks and (I hope) improvements to presentation, yada yada… I don’t think anyone is interested in much of that except me.
What I am excited about, however, is closing out of July with 195 children’s podcasts on the site!
When I started this we’d found around ten age-appropriate shows that my kids liked, it was a becoming a struggle to get into the depths and find more.
To now have 195 shows accessible within a few clicks… I’m really excited to help surface this much amazing content and, I think, SoundCarrot.com has become something that’s useful, and something that I’m now really proud of.
Which brings me to filtering, which is getting some TLC to help you quickly filter those 195 shows. There’s now a whizzy sort/filter thing and save you having to look through a bunch of pages when you change topic on the Shows page.
Upcoming…
We’ve 195 podcasts on the site. Right now these are just sortable by Topic (and the new whizzy woo filtering) but soon we’ll have an ‘age filter’ as well. So if you want something right for a 5 year old, it’ll be as easy to find as something for an 8 year old. I just have to edit all 195 shows to add some new tags – sigh.
I also like adding Episodes we’re loving to posts, but I want to get a regular ‘Best of’ articles together. That ‘best episodes about wombats’ isn’t going to write itself and, who knows how many fans of wombats there are out there.
Episodes we’re loving this week…

How we Explore S1E4 – Paleontologist Aubrey Roberts
Like many kids, Aubrey Roberts was obsessed with dinosaurs, and learned later that you can have job a working with them! Or rather, their bones. In this episode, we hear about ancient reptiles that aren’t dinosaurs, using engineering to study ancient animals, and the aftermath of discovery.
