Scotty’s feeling a little sad today – and his friends are determined to change that! Vac sounds the alarm, bringing the whole gang to the rescue with exercise, music, and royal decrees. But sometimes when you’re sad, you need time to feel your feelings, to talk it out… and to remember that your friends have your back.
Educational Goals:
In this episode, Scotty’s friends try several strategies to help Scotty feel less sad: exercising, playing music, and asking what Scotty’s sad about. If you or your child feel a little down, you can try those things out, and see if they help you feel better. But being sad isn’t always a big problem that needs to be fixed. It’s okay to feel sad sometimes, and to take the time to work through sad feelings.
Play at Home:
Feeling sad can be complicated! You and your child might deal with sad feelings very differently. You may find that your child wants to talk to you about the sad feelings, or might just want to be alone for awhile. They might also try: singing or playing an instrument, an impromptu dance party, making a card for someone they miss, going outside, or calling a friend. There’s no right or wrong way to feel sad, but there are infinite ways to start feeling a little better.
And remember, we have a special episode about how to start the conversation about racism, available on our website.
