As Queenie and Chicken prepare to plant “a few seeds” in the garden behind the Club, we hear poems about planting the wrong seeds, the fun of eating lots of different vegetables, and what could happen if you don’t eat your vegetables. Plus there’s a listener poem. Be prepared for mud, tractors, and a mug of tea!
This week, the Club hosts the awards ceremony for the Spring 2020 competition, where twenty poets from around the world are celebrated as Finalists, and five poets and six artists are announced as competition Winners. We hear from all of the Finalists, and Little Dazzy Donuts reads out the winning poems. All of that happens despite Queenie struggling with the wrong half of an orchestra and a bubble machine.
In this final special bonus episode focused on listener poems about Spring, Little Dazzy Donuts is woken up at 2am by Queenie and Chicken to hear nine poems from Wales, India, England, Canada, Nigeria, and the United States. The featured poets are: Joseph, Amy, Huda, Colleen, Abbie, Cali, Akubueze, Melissa, and Aryan. All of that happens despite Queenie's sugar rush from eating two entire cakes.
This week's topic is Word Fun, with poems about how to stop words going into one ear and out of the other, what it's like to forget what you wanted to say, and being in a conversation with somebody who speaks a different language. Along the way, Queenie and Chicken play a game of replacing words, and also a game of limericks. Plus, Little Dazzy Donuts and Queenie start preparations for next week's announcement of the winners from the Spring competition.
This week's topic is choices, with poems about making a lot of decisions, choosing where to go with a friend, and changing the world one choice at a time. Queenie has a tough choice to make between a hike, helping Postie Dale, and going to the last day of the art exhibit. Donna Worry helps her to think through the options, and make a decision.
In this second special bonus episode focused on listener poems about Spring, Little Dazzy Donuts is outside of the Club selecting six of the early entries. We hear from Noah, Jack, Josephine, Caitlin, Joseph, and Jessica. All of that happens while Queenie orchestrates the biggest ever "wowzapalooza" surprise inside of the Club.
This week, you’ll hear poems about an important art gallery in your home, being inspired by a painting in an art museum, and a painting that's about something really different from what people think it's about. Plus, Queenie receives help from a local artist as she decides what to draw for the Spring competition.
