Early cowboys in America wrote stories of the incredible animals that they encountered when they settled the west: Grizzly Bears, Elk, Bison, Pronghorn and Mountain Lions. But what if I told you that some of them also told stories of Dinosaurs?
On today’s Monday mini, we’ll talk about the silly mix-up that happened during the Korean war that involves explosives, emergency vehicle repairs….and tootsie rolls.
It’s 1944 on the French-German border. World War 2 is winding down but the battle is still raging. Lt. Fred Ringwald is riding as observer in a night fighter piloted by Lt. Ed Schlueter, with Lt. Donald J. Meiers on radar. It was late November and the night was cloudy, only slightly lit by a meager quarter moon. As they flew over the Rhine Valley, Ringwald called out over the radio to his companions, “I wonder what those lights are, over there in the hills.”
It was October 30th, 1938. Halloween night. Americans were at home enjoying their Holiday and some sitting to listen to the most popular news and entertainment media they had at the time, the radio. But for many their relaxing time on the sofa turned to panic!
What if you were on a walk in the woods, and out of nowhere you saw a large set of stairs? Just sitting there in the forest, all by themselves? Today we are going to talk about this strange phenomenon of the stairs that go to nowhere.
The year 1945 marked the end of one of the greatest wars of our time, World War 2. The Allied forces won the war after Germany surrendered, and two atomic bombs were dropped by The United States over the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. Japan quickly surrendered after the second bomb was dropped. The war was over! But not everyone heard the news. This is the Incredible Story of Hiroo Onoda.
