This is a serialised ongoing story, so jumping in at episode 10, for example, could confuse matters. Give episode one a try, and if you like it; listen to things from there.

Full Episode description

The adventure continues for the power pals on Dogland in this thrilling 8th episode of Season 2. The dogs are off again, but not before we examine the role of the fight, flight, or freeze response and how it is a natural part of your amazing brain, more specifically, the amygdala. Studies have shown that just learning about this can help kids manage anxiety and regulate themselves after surprises, stress, and fright. We love Anxiety Canada’s approach here, too: https://www.anxietycanada.com/articles/fight-flight-freeze-anxiety-explained-for-kids/

If you and your family are seeking more podcast-based resources for building mindfulness toolkits, then we also HIGHLY recommend these three fellow Kids Listen member podcasts. Although designed for kids, we are finding them to be wonderful for multiple generations in our home.

And, be warned, this episode ends with a bit of a fox-hanger! Grown-ups can reassure their youngers that everyone will be OK. We promise.

If you haven’t listened to our sidequest, bonus episodes from the Fetcher Files called “The Dog Who Rode Into the Sunset, parts 1 & 2,” then you should probably go back and check those out. This is also a good idea if it’s been a while since you last gave a listen to them and need a refresh for your memory. If you’re completely new to our story, please go find episode 1, called “S1E1 | START HERE! | Power Dog Goes To College” as this is a serial story adventure that unfolds throughout each season.

Special thanks to Jason Roark, our creative partner and ultimate Renaissance Bunny Supreme! He records, edits, and designs this show. He also provides original music including our opening theme song, which is sung & performed by him and the wonderful, talented Jen Bernard.

Our song that plays at the end of this episode is a song we wrote along with Hank’s Granny & Gramps, aka Murphy & Marckx. It’s called “Power Dog, He Won’t Give Up!”

Colin Laurel illustrated our cover art, which was directed by Jen Wick.

If you catch a moment, and can follow, rate, and/or review the show, we would be so grateful! It really helps get the word out for our small, indie, mom & pop & pup, family operation.
