Fossil remains of an Australian eagle have recently surfaced to reveal a large pre-historic bird. This was at the apex of the predator-prey pyramid. It is believed to have small wings, long legs and talons almost 15cm long. They are likely to have feasted on koalas, possums and wombats, amongst other creatures in the enclosed forests of Australia, nearly 25 million years ago.
