Episode one logo Episode One: Introducing 'What's new today'

This is an Episodic show. You can listen to it in any order, but episode one is always a great place to start.

Full Episode description

A couple of years ago, a group of people in nice long white lab coats (some call them scientists) set about solving a mystery about animals on islands.
They had 2 interesting clues to get on about

(a) a rodent the size of a 2-year old child. It was scurrying around eating up large chunks of your cake in one go.
(b) a hippo similar in size to young children.

A biologist called Foster first suggested this strange and funny phenomenon he noticed in islands, which he called 'an island effect'. These scientists collected a lot of curious facts from many islands from around the world, and discovered that this rule was indeed true.

Listen to (almost) 11-year old Vihaan from Bombay Scottish School, Mumbai, as he explains this really remarkable case.
