It sounds harmless enough, but so does any nightmare once you’re awake. And there are places where it can be a bit harder to awaken. Places where dreams come closer to reality. Places like the forests of the Pacific Northwest where the idea that something may be just behind that tree, watching you, drawing back when you turn your head to look, seems a bit too plausible.
