These are the latest episodes from the Nature topic added to soundcarrot, but be careful, many of these are serialised shows so jumping in at episode 10, for example, could confuse matters.

We'd recommend starting with the first episode of your show of choice, and if you like it, listening from there.

241 Natural white noise from Folkestone Warren beach at night (sleep safe)
01:00:57 | Episode: 245 | October 14th, 2024

An hour of uninterrupted white noise. Naturally occurring and fully spatial. Captured by the Lento box last weekend from a tree overlooking the beach under Folkestone Warren. Low soft rumbling of the crashing waves. Mid-range curtains of dark grey-blue backwash, that seem to billow and shimmer like hanging fabrics. Fine layers of crisper whiter noise, formed from the frothing and fizzing sea water as it is churned and blown by the night wind. The subtle hiss as countless leaves catch in the undulating wind.

00:03:27 | October 9th, 2024

Oh no! Ryan’s back… Earth Ranger Emma’s misguided rival is trying to make his own name in the podcasting world by covering legendary mysteries like the Loch Ness Monster and the Mothman. Ryan’s on a mission to prove these creatures are real, while Emma is determined to debunk the myths with science and facts and prove that many cryptid sightings can be linked to some very real – yet no less fascinating animals. 240 Wide time in the Kielder Forest (sleep safe with distant geese)
58:12 | Episode: 244 | October 7th, 2024

Last week we shared wide time captured from a North Norfolk beach as night fell. This week it’s wide time from the vast interior of the Kielder Forest. Human-free night vastness is an experience so out of reach to us, and indeed to most people, that travelling with the Lento box to bring it back in the raw is always top of our list.

The Monkeyflower Mystery
00:23:30 | Season: 10 | Episode: 3 | October 4th, 2024

Why do plants grow in different places? How do they adapt to different environments? And what makes them different species? Those are the questions that drove biologist David Lowry to begin a 20 year study of a shape-shifting plant called the yellow monkeyflower. It begins with a road trip, and ends up questioning everything you think you know about the definition of species. Get ready for a wild, plant-fueled ride into science!

Rasping kangaroo joeys
0:08:07 | October 3rd, 2024

Ann is hoping to spot a baby with long legs and ears – who might tumble out of a pouch. But, what is that noise? It sounds a bit like a sheep, but there are no farms around here.

Zapping crocodile hatchlings
0:09:19 | October 3rd, 2024

Today, Ann is looking for buried treasure – but it’s not gold or jewels that she’s hoping to find. But eggs!

Begging gannet chicks
0:08:13 | October 3rd, 2024

Ann is off to join a big family, enjoying a get together on the beach. But there’s no surfing, beach cricket or picnic rugs here. There is one very hungry baby though – and it’s noisily putting in its lunch order.
